Teen Bicyclist Critically Injured After Getting Hit By Car In Hicksville

A 16-year-old teen was critically injured after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Hicksville.

The incident took place around 9:37 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, in the vicinity of Newbridge Road and Old Country Road, in Hicksville, said the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, a 63-year-old man was driving a 2019 Nissan northbound on Newbridge Road and struck the teen as he was crossing Old County Road west to east on his bicycle, police said.

The teen suffered multiple head injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver was not injured.

The vehicle was brake and safety tested, said police who are continuing with the investigation.
